Monday Mouse Watch (11/17/13)

Monday Mouse Watch:

- if someone wants to make a document look older than it actually is, they'll sometimes use tea or tobacco to stain the paper

- to make a table or a dresser look like an authentic antique, they'll sometimes beat on that item with a length of chain in order to weather the wood.

- they went frame by frame throughout 'get a horse' to produce a mistake

- i like how they can make something brand new look like it was created 85 years ago

- i didnt like that they had to put in a mistake to make it look old, if that makes any sense

- a question i have is, what is the point of making it look old?

VFX Industry, Jobs, and You (11/17/13)

VFX Industry, Jobs, and You

- Visual effects is used in a lot of things from commercials, video games, broadcasts and everything in between.

- People who have a background of art and tech will be well suited for visual effects

- most buildings in tv shows are made of 3D and not actually filmed in that place

- I liked that the article explained some ways to be introduced into VFX and the jobs and requirements that need to be met

- another thing i liked is that you dont have to be a computer scientist but a normal person with little art skills

- My question is, How long will VFX be around and is it a good Career path?

Weekly Comments (11/17/13)

- This week I learned how to subtract and add timecodes, and figure out the right amount of minutes etc, that is required to make the actual length of the film longer or shorter!

- When we get into after effects I want to learn bullet time, and more way to have a smoother slow motion other then twixtor and time remapping

- The timecodes frustrated me a little bit but not so much, some of them were just really confusing and i didn't understand some problems but it was worth the lesson

- Fetting closer to the time when we get to work in after effects made me happy because i love working in AE and i have a sense of feeling towards the program

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4au_efL5eY - this is bullet time done in after effects it looks like a long process but will come in handy!

Blogs (10/20/13) - Zombie Love: Why Are We So Obsessed with Things That Want to Eat Our Brains?

Zombie Love: Why Are We So Obsessed with Things That Want to Eat Our Brains?

Zombie movies have been around for almost 80 years with the release of Victor Halperin’s (White Zombie) released in 1932.

Romero’s Night of the Living Dead released in 1968 was the first zombie film that made much success at the box office.

- Zombies are pictured to symbol how technology took over the human minds

- I liked how Zombies are created to be one of our favorite horror but also symbolize the take over of technology.

- another thing I liked how they pictured if we had a zombie outbreak that technology wouldn't help us.

- How would technology help us if there was a zombie outbreak?

Weekly Comments: 10/20/13

- What i learned this week was that there are different ways of using keyframes for certain effects and using the keyframes to expand the duration of a clip or audio.

- What i would like to learn in the future is bullet time, or a smooth slow-mo for action type films or just for goofing off with different items.

- Something that frustrated me this week would be working on a premiere project and it just closing or the computer running sluggish and i would mess up the keyframe.

- Something that made me happy was working in premiere and beginning to learn the ways of a film maker!

Blog (10/3/13) - Point Of View: How So Many Rooted For 'Breaking Bad's' Walter White

Point Of View: How So Many Rooted For 'Breaking Bad's' Walter White

- The use of  different point of views can simply get a reader or watchers mind wondering whats he thinking or what he is about to do, using simple things like the Doctors mustard stain on his coat made walter even more confused then he already was

- The watchers of breaking bad still have sympathy for walt because of his lung cancer even after the dozens of murders and all the meth he has cooked, the watchers are still on his side rooting for him

- The more emotion an actor puts in his/her face during a scene can have more watchers intrigued by whats going on and have the anxiety to keep watching and fiction everything that is going to happen

- What I like is the way they described Walter's emotion when he's cleaning the students tires, he has the emotion of shame and embarrassment and he really sells it to the watchers

"Depending on how the actor is emoting and his facial expressions, we can begin to make inferences about a person's internal state," Magliano says. What i love about that is how a smile or laugh can put many questions into a watchers mind

- a question i have is "How would action/drama movies be without emotion?"

Weekly Comments (10/3/13)

- This week I learned more things I wouldn't know myself, I learned more ways to resize an image so it stays its true quality and doesn't lose any pixels and get distorted.

- I would like to learn photo manipulation in the future because of the wide variety of things you can create and you can actually but your imagination in the picture and create your own little fantasy world in a picture

- Something that frustrated me would be the image resizing, at first I was confused on where to look and what to do but when I got helped and figured everything out, everything from there was dandy

- Something that made me happy would be the self portrait montage, I was able to express things that I loved and create a sort of dream place for my picture, another thing that made me happy was getting the documentary project and be able to film soon, also the sound project creating a film while only using music is hard but also very exciting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKmZg62MrqE This video / speed art is really interesting and very creative, i love how designers can just put their mind to something and create something as crazy as that just by looking at a simple picture

Blog #2 - How do film-makers manipulate our emotions with music?

How do film-makers manipulate our emotions with music?

 - Films just wouldn't be the same without music because emotions are anticipated by music and it makes those who are watching wondering whats going to happen next?

- Directors are going to use infrasound a lot more in movies, a human can't hear infrasound but it induces anxiety.

- In Paranormal activity they used low frequency sound waves audiences reported high fear levels despite a lack of action onscreen, saying if despite the low action, the music made up for it and giving people the scare they wanted.

- I like how music is used in movies and our everyday life to make moments happier or even scarier

- also another thing I liked is how music can make a terrible film scary just using music or low frequency sound waves

- A question I have is, how would movies be without music or sound?

Blog # 1 - Chipotle Scarecrow Makes Enemies To Win Customers

Chipotle Scarecrow Makes Enemies To Win Customers

   - A lot of people are angered over this short animation film and at first I didn't know why but reading and watching everything I understood a lot more and what they were trying to get out to the world.

- Chipotle wasn't using "The Scarecrow" for advertising or else it would be on TV but yet they made it to explain to people a special message.

- There's a lot of ways to put animation to use, big things like sending a message to the world or even small things just to say happy birthday.

- Something I loved was that they used this animation to tell the world that killing animals or even eating industrial food is going to ruin what we started with by farming and growing our own food.

- Another thing I liked was that the scarecrow was the only one that realized the world around him was ruining itself day by day and he wanted to make a change before he lost the world he loved.

- A question I have is why did people get mad over the article, like they didn't air it on TV or make a profit from it so why are people mad?

Weekly Comments (9/20/13)

Weekly Comments -

- I learned many things through this week, learning how to mask different objects to add a different image behind what you masked, as said you can mask out windows in a building and instead of seeing the background you could add a different image like a view of a beach or a mountain even a cat if you wanted too.

- In the future, I want to learn more about Flash and Illustrator because I like making up mini sketches and being able to see them come alive and move them whatever way you please, I also want to learn a lot more about photoshop so I can put everything I learn into a real job and do what I love to do best.

- Something that frustrated me would be the retouch project because it would get really confusing and right when i think i actually have it there would be another line for me to fix and when it wouldn't work it would just ruin the rest of the picture.

- Something that made me happy this week is the freedom we have to create what we want and configure the pictures the way we like and have the freedom to search tutorials and many sites to make our projects look like perfect, another thing is the projects we get are really fun and I enjoy working on them a lot.

- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvthadmv3E8 This is a really neat tutorial that I love because I really like photo manipulation and that's what i enjoy making a lot in photoshop, just being able to take simple pictures and turning them into amazing things like jungles and ancient cities is just really exciting
